For after the apocalypse and zombie attacks...
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Hi Doug! Hi Folks!

As for Zombie defense, I think one would ran out of ammo long before one ran out of Zombies.

Looks good, but as best I remember, a mini gun burns through the ammo load way to fast to be an effective weapon system on a ground based vehicle.

Interesting, thanks for the link Doug!

Hit the convoy twice. First time just to run the mini gun out of ammo and then as they starting running away, hit them again.

A mini-gun on a ground base vehicle is to much flash for to short of time.

You're thinking "convoy", Roy....I'm thinking "motorcade". And a decreased ROF, which you can do with mini's. Wink

Convoy - military mind think,
Motorcade - civilian mind think,
both are ducks in a moving line.

ROF? Shocked
I forgot those electric Gatling guns have adjustable ROF. Confused

OK, You win, I agree now. Smile

Must be blanks. No tracers and they were pointed at the camera. Still pretty cool!

Here's some tracers! www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbXDmiqo6a4

Thanks mark

They are an offshoot of Dillon Precision, makers of some great reloading gear (that's probably how they can afford to feed the miniguns). Mike Dillon is a warbird buff and used to own a P-40 and they put out a calendar each year
that would probably fly well with Herr Ascout and JG 300 Wink

Skanks...they would never cut it in the Pig Sty's "Luv Shak" except as "fluffers". We might let some of 'em serve drinks when Heidi, Gretchen, and Helga need a few hours off. Wink

(If they can really handle those guns, we could use some rent-a-cops for the brewery, though)

ROF?
I forgot those electric Gatling guns have adjustable ROF.

The linked Dillon page states the M134 is fixed rate of fire at 3000 rpm (yow! cough? cough!). The standard ammunition supplies are 1500, 3000 and 4400 rounds. So at 20lbs per 200, if I remember my machine gun lectures correctly, there is a weight factor for any vehicle or aircraft dragging one of these guns around. And there are all the problems of lifting a dancing belt from wherever to the feed tray.

I read about the Suburban motorcade vehicle about 10 yrs ago in one of the car and driver magazines. That variant had a steel mesh floor so the empties would fall through onto the ground.

I am a little suspicious of this sort of gun-porn video clip. Yes there are a lot of rounds downrange, but firepower is more than just brass, noise and smoke. Hitting the target is ultimately what shooting is all about. Ripping through 7.62x51 like you own a reloading company might be impressive PR, but how many of those 147gr bullets are having their intended effect? Put that gun on an evading Suburban and I suggest that not as many get there as people first imagine.

Yet possibly more that from, say, an M240 similarly mounted in the same scenario? Which might just be the point.

The Dillon website puts up reliability and rpm comparisons to the FN MAG58 (what Canadians call the C6, the Brits call a GPMG and the US calls an M240). My point is not volume of fire, but deliberate hits on intended target. It is one thing to point a fire hose on mist, and something altogether different to aim a point nozzle. If these badboys had a stabilizer and a gyro then I'd be less argumentative.

To quote the greatest guitar player alive, 'its in the way that you use it'.
