The U. S. Army's Historical Foundation Research website....
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: The U. S. Army's Historical Foundation Research website....

Hey All

I found a link to the Army History Research website. Interesting online articles on the M42 Duster (1) & The M551 Sheridan(2).

1) M42 Duster

2) M551 'Sheridan'

Time to read more...
Regards
Don

It needs work... Wink

The Sheridan was also equipped with four smoke grenade launchers mounted on the turret.
Shocked

Some crews reported that the front end of the tank would literally lift off the ground when the gun fired

Some, my fanny...trust me, anyone who ever saw one fire can attest to that. This makes it sound like a rumor.

The M81’s M409 HEAT rounds had a maximum range of 2,000 feet
...this could be worded a little better, HEAT rounds don't just fall to the ground at less than 700 meters. A word about effective ranges would be in order. Somewhere in here, I think they got their units mixed up.
