this is the way to go, i fly regular on big birds n boardings no big deal, Virgin have opted for the flash first class cabin deals on theirs, so maybe this time we will get to see more than concept pictures, rumours have it that virgin are putting double beds in for mile highers lol..... book me in. www.ananova.com/news/s...45598.html
most airports are putting in new boarding gates to handle these also, on the fuel issue i should imagine passeners moved to fuel used is the main concern so maybe less aircraft more passengers is the way things will go in future?

Well, that's true if you're in 1st class (and I am fortunate to usually be so), but many 777's use only a single portal (between 1st and Business) and that is darn slow. Even terminal that can support two jetways don't (at least on the international flights I'M on) and this can only get worse. Boarding time now for most 747/777 overwater flights is 45 minutes. At >100,000 miles a year, I know I don't look forward to this plane and hope American doesn't buy any.

I see it mostly on long Pacific hops for a while, anyway...and some "special" flights (aren't all of Branson's pretty "special"?)

I went and listened to a speech with the Vice Pres of International Operations for FedEx. He said that because the A380 can hold so much cargo, and they have a limited time to unload everything, there are three crews unloading the plane at the same time. If they can do it with cargo, they can do it with planes. Its more a matter of will they?

well i think the futures set for these bigger loadouts, with at least 60 airports already planning gates to accomodate it i think its only time before US airlines buy into it.
Airports like heathrow will badly need this type of service soon if gridlock is to be avoided, 150 or so have already been ordered so its going to happen like it or not, personaly i cant wait to try one lol, airlines i used previous like Quantas, Thai, Emirates, virgin and singapore all ordered so hopefully i'll be gettin on one in the near future, "Virgin by the way is not so special unless you are first class".

One thing i dont understand is BA holding off, mind you i always found them overated and try to avoid them as much as.
