A threat to the planet, eh?
Scientists have found a new threat to the planet: Canadian beer drinkers.

The government-commissioned study says the old, inefficient "beer fridges" that one in three Canadian households use to store their Molson Shocked

and Labatt's contribute significantly to global warming by guzzling gas- and coal-fired electricity.

"People need to understand the impact of their lifestyles," British environmental consultant Joanna Yarrow tells New Scientist magazine. "Clearly the environmental implications of having a frivolous luxury like a beer fridge * are not hitting home. This research helps inform people â€” let's hope it has an effect."

The problem is that the beer fridges are mostly decades-old machines that began their second careers as beverage dispensers when Canadians upgraded to more energy-efficient models to store whatever Canadians eat besides doughnuts and poutine.

The veracity of this story is in question, given the publication's "qualifications" to even be writing..(even allowing for some differences in British vs. 'Murican spelling):

..and I think the manufacturer is even on the right track by by "masking" the true intended purpose by filling it with all that sandwich junk and Gatorade. Kinda like those folks that sell indoor hydroponic units so you can grow...umm....."tomato plants" or whatever in your bedroom closet....

Refined Sau's??? that just doesn't sound right but if there was such a thing he would probably drink a premium beer like Sleeman's or Creemore Springs. Now as far as those busy body English chaps are concerned if they had done any research at all they would know that our beer fridges sit in garages that are COLD most of the year so a real busy beer fridge(like mine) uses most it's power turning it's light on when the door is opened! Man,some people really know how to tick a guy off ! Evil or Very Mad

That's "processed sau's". Refined sau's end up on Mission Bay sipping Brunello de Montellcino or Wild Turkey, watching the sun set over the Pacific from their living room, and being paid to travel to Buenos Aires, Firenze, and Prague. Wink
