Readers may be interested to know that these wreaths -- some 5,000 -- are donated by the Worcester Wreath Co. of Harrington, Maine. The owner, Merrill Worcester, not only provides the wreaths, but covers the trucking expense as well. He's done this since 1992. A wonderful guy. Also, most years, groups of Maine school kids combine an educational trip to DC with this event to help out. Making this even more remarkable is the fact that Harrington is in one the poorest parts of the state.

That is like the person that slips Krugerands in the Salvation Armys buckets here in Omaha. It happens every year, and they find at least 2, usually at different locations in the city. So far, no one knows who is doing it, except the person doing it.

Update - On the local (Washington DC) News this weekend it was reported that Saturday 10,000 ( up from the 5,000 originally placed) were placed at Arlington. Except for the fact there was no snow this year the appearance in the news footage was much as shown here.
