This is Manfred Radius, had the pleasure of seeing him live a few years back. he started out as a FW190 ramjaeger pilot in WWII

As far as I know he is still alive and on the airshow circut. It appears I was misinformed about his origins

I've seen him perform at the Commemorative Air Force airsho a Couple of times. One time his act was just at dusk with pyrotechnics...........Beautiful Flying
