KV-2s in the far east.
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: KV-2s in the far east.

For a long time I've heard rumors about pillbox installments in the Russian far east. Obsolete tanks were sent on a final journey to end their service as pillbox installations along the Chinese border, Kamchatka penisula and on the Kuril islands.

I've seen picture proof of installments of JS and T-34/85 series tanks but there has been rumor of KV's as well, among them the ultra rare KV-2. As I see it the pillbox installations of Russia, and as we've seen earlier in Bulgaria, are a major previously untapped source for WW2 armor in general and rare WW2 armor in particular.

Man I wish I had the money so I could go look for these "treasures" and get them into hands that would preserve them.

Not Far East, and not KV-2. It's KV-2 turret mockup on the IS-2M hull, somewhere near Severodvinsk

good book on the subject "Tank Turret Fortifications" by Neil Short at Amazon or other places
