The people at shockwave says it can't be fixed..........What do ya'll think???
The Spit is for FSX.... The Mustang, made for FS9 works fine in FSX even with acceleration......

Seems ashame that this happens to a very nice plane Especially since you have to pay for it!!!! Crying or Very sad

They're full of it that it can't be fixed.

Unfortunately it's in the model level and requires correcting the source and rebuilding properly with the FSX SP2 SDK.

Black or silver prop textures are fixed by modifying the alpha layer of the textures (typically, of FS9 aircraft)....but the behavior of the alpha layer with autogen scenery is a seperate modeling issue and occurs when the model is not designed fully SDK-compliant.

But to say it can't be fixed....total cop-out and nothing else.

That's kinda what I thought, just by the way they answered my question. In FS9 it doesn't have that problem. It looks really good in FS9 and FSX except for the prop issue, and is fun to fly in either sim. Sounds are awsome

I'm sure it's good other than the prop.

I'd provide comparo shots of other aircraft (like even stock FSX aircraft) where the prop textures behave well no matter what the conditions....autogen buildings, trees, or detailed clouds, doesn't matter.

Heck why even provide screenshots....they know even the default Cessna 172 prop texture behaves well. It's just a propellor....4 blades rather than 2 doesn't cause the issue.

The only "out" I can see is if the aircraft is sold as an FS9 aircraft and not labelled as being for FSX. Since there are some design considerations and rework required, that's why some vendors sometimes choose to charge for the FSX update version.

Heh!

You could also point oot ( Smile ) that their competition is making dual-purpose FS9/FSX compatible choosable-install products that have perpellers without prop disc issues....the IRIS T-6a/Texan II (turboprop Beech Mentor kinda plane) is an FS9/FSX product and the install package offers the same install options for either sim, and I do believe the prop disc behaves quite well in FSX (I'll double-check when I get hme and send pix you can hot-link from my photobucket account). In SP2 even.

Nicely done, 1Bullet!

If you need any more ammo (don't think ya will) here's some screenies I just got done taking, so what the hey I might as well put 'em to use somewhere.....

IRIS T-6A Texan II available at http://www.fspilotshop.com/product_info.php?products_id=1326

It says "For FSX" but is one package that installs for FS9 and/or FSX...you select which one when you run the installer and you're done.

Results?

4-blade perpeller disc that works fine in FS9.....

As well as FSX.....
