The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Cost isn't the reason, the future combat systems already cost more developmentwise than producing the current MBT. We will have fewer tanks because tactically, we will no longer face large armored formations, nor will any country we wish to attack give us the amount of time to build up a large armored force in a neighboring country in order to invade them.

The current philosophy is that we need fewer tanks that we can get to the fight faster. We will still have brigade/battalion sized armor units for many years to come.
