allied outside exhibits at bovington
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Well, after some research for a UK AFV Register & digging through the Tank Museum website...

The Churchill is actually a Mk II - the hull gun is not original, but was added at some point to make it look like a Mk I. To make matters a little worse, its been painted up with the colors of a Mk III that took part in the Dieppe Raid.

See www.tankmuseum.co.uk/c..._1107.html and www.tankmuseum.co.uk/c..._0506.html

The Conway is also a bit of an oddball... The museum has a complete Conway - an FV4004 model: www.tankmuseum.co.uk/c..._0806.html

But this (the one now on display outside) isnt it... The one you photographed is the FV4005 Conway Stage 2 turret on a Centurion Mk 8 hull www.tankmuseum.co.uk/c..._0907.html

Yup, that's the 183mm behemoth alright ... failed to see that at first, thanks for the heads up.
