Well I went ahead and purchased the SR-71 blackbird from Alphasim the other day and took it for a quik test flight,,,,only the one so far but holy phnnoooot....what is this thing supposed to be????a rocket or an aircraft???

I started off from golden B.C. and went into this crazy climb that took me to about 90,000 feet in just a couple of minutes,,,,,I still dunno if I was reading that altimeter right but I fly at 30k quite often and the difference in the scenery was a confirmation of my reading?????,,,,but I got up there and just to keep it level had to go full afterburner due to lack of air but after around 5 minutes level flight at that altitude I decided to look at the map to find out which way back home for an attempt at landing this beast,,,,you can imagine my astonishment to see I was over Seattle.....in less than 10 minutes from takeoff I managed to go from southeastern B.C. to that area......I'm still all wierded out about the whole event but gonna try it again,,,,lol,,,,,,,

thanks for the tip on this plane Lurps,,,I can see its gonna be a blast,,,,,next time we on together we should fly to Africa or sumpthin,,,,,LOL

LOL Hoppa ! Welcome to the " Spook" aviator community .....

Just a quick tip ..not sure if you know.... the flap switch controls the air intake spikes in flight. There are no flaps. adjusting the intake spikes in will give you an additional 150 + knots of airspeed at altitude .... make sure you check this when flying.
You'll see them moving in and out as you adjust them when using external view .... check the dramatic increase in airspeed that you get ....
I routinely see 1920 + knots at around FL700 .... SMOKIN !!!!!

I used to diddle in the freeware version and could take off from San Fran and be in SoCal in 20 minutes or so.....

Getting slowed down took another 10!

I'm pretty sure another 5,000' is going to put you into the water at either end at the "Pig Sty". I think you'd best just keep diverting to another airport....
