Italian M13/40s or M14/41s? - Bovington, APG, etc...
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Interesting article I ran across on the Bovington tank museum site that calls into question the identity of all supposed "M13/40s" at Bovington, APG & in Canada...

Well, interesting readings..

The difference between the M-13/40 and the M-14/41 seems to be quite thin, but the difference btw the M-14/41 and the M-15/42 is bigger (the M-14/41 having not the door on the same side than the M-15/42).

According to wwiivehicles.com website, the differences between M-13/40 and M-14/41 are :

"M14/41:

Improved the air and fuel filters and installed a more powerful diesel engine.

Had transversal radiator outlet grills, mud clearing blades at the drive sprockets, and longer fenders.
Supports for 5.3 gallon (20 liter) cans were added. "

Maybe someone has more info to confirm?

for what it's worth, don't know for sure about the other features but neither the presumed M13 or the semovente 75 at Aberdeen have the mud cleaners but the semovente 90 there does have them. some photos here may be of help

In fact, only in APG preserved M13/40. In Bovington M14/41.

And for the tanks in Canada?

-Canadian Forces Base, Borden (Canada), listed as M13/40
-Canadian Forces Base, Wainwright (Canada), listed as M13/40 too

Are they M14/41?

The Borden Tank needs positive confirmation as an M13/40 but the Wainwright example is a M14/41 though the sign says otherwise.

Tom Jentz identified the Bovington tank as an M14/41, I think from its serial number.

Try this for photo ID ... Not my strong suit by a long shot, but I know how to save internet links:

The Italian tank at Borden was confirmed to be an M13/40, a friend of mine explained me why :

There are 2 rivets up and down the hull MG armored cover; the direction of the rods of the engine plate and the fact that there are no mudguards on the sprocket confirm this is an M13/40..(sorry for my inaccurate terms..)
