Back in around 1956, Canada designed and built the best fighter jet on the planet. It was called "The Avro Arrow". My family worked on the project. It was cancelled after a couple of prototypes made some flights and astonished everybody, nothing then or in the forseable future could come close to it. Its performance is matched by todays best fighters and this bird is 50 years old..!! I worked on the full scale model at the Toronto Aerospace Museum..here are some pics and read the short tab " Arrow story" to find out what this bird could do...

When we had compleated the nose section, I took my father down to see it. I will never forget the glow on his face and smile when he saw the Arrow being built again.

I'm not sure I would call the Arrow a 'fighter' but it was possibly the most advanced interceptor aircraft of the era. It goes down as one of the great unhearlded aircraft of the era. Would have put Canada up with the top of the pack of aircraft producers
