The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: 75 mm CN 75-50

I need pictures of the breech area of French 75mm CN 75-50 gun as fitted in the Israeli M50 Super Sherman. My search for pictures has been futile and I have no patience to wait any longer for the books that "might" contain such pictures.

Any help will be highly appreciated!

Best,
Rik

Never mind, it seems like "The Lioness & Lion of the Line Vol.1" is the way to go anyway.

The thing that is bugging me is that I've, for the longest time, wanted to know if the CN 75-50 or DEFA gun could be used for restoring/rebuilding a Panther? I've thrown this question around a couple of times and still haven't received a solid answer. So picture comparison is a way to start ...

Have you checked Chris the Toadman's site? He has a number of photos of Littlefield's AFV collection. I remember there is an IDF Sherman, not sure if it is a M50 or M51 or possible both.

Roy, you were right, there are two galleries :

M50

M51

Only the M51 gallery shows inside photos of the tank.

Yup, I did check Toadmans site but zip on the M50. The M51 has the gun in full recoil position and has a torch cut breech, and it's the wrong gun on top of that as it's the 105mm CN 105 D1 gun.

I have the "The Lioness & Lion of the Line Vol.1" on order, fingers crossed Smile
