Lost in thin ice covered swampy pot during battle against German break-through attempt to Korsun - Shevchenko pocket, early Spring 1944.
Recovered from Cherkassy area, Ukraine by a "Red Star" group of enthusiasts from Kiev.
Hope I am not mistaken...
That female TV reporter seems to be pretty attractive, doesn't she? Wink

This is the same region were the wrecked Panther now at Sinsheim was recovered.

That is a real time capsule, from the contents of the tools box to the full ammo load and the man's socks. I hope some competent archivists had a chance in inventory and document that stuff before the vultures picked it over. That muck must have some magical preservation properties. Any indication where it was found?

There are shots of what looks like a radio. Does this suggest this is a commander's vehicle? Or, would that be a receive only type?

Around frame 75 you see some changes in how they rigged the cables to flip it over. The salvors got smart at that point and slung a cable through the turret hatch and out a belly hatch. Then they pushed an I-beam through the eye. Clever way to not stress the towing hooks.
