Post subject: Milton's D18S crashes FS9 to desktop

The error message points to the file "hobbs2.gau"

Is there a known fix for this?

thanks

DR

First I've heard of this, have used for some time without issue. Will wait for someone else to chime in to see if anyone else has ever reported. Never heard similar report, though. Sorry to hear of your trouble, however.

Hiya DR and welcome to Com Central!

That's a first for me too as we haven't had any issues of CTD with Milton's work.

1) Did you look for the gauge it's referencing to see if it's installed?

2) Did you try installing the plane (file) again?

Just a couple of suggestions for you.. Smile

OK, nailed it down. The problem is not in the base a/c but in the big repaints/updates pack I dl'd here yesterday.

That pack installs hobbs1.gau and hobbs2.gau dated 6-23-05 which are the culprits. Deleting references to them within the D18SVC panel.cfg seems to cure the crashes.

I have no desire to simulate paying for an overhaul on two R985's so I think I can live without Hobbs meter gauges...

Thanks for the feedback DR and we'll look into that package. This is the first time anyone ever had problems with it that we're aware of including ourselves.

Would it be possible you ended up with a corrupted download? Perhaps try downloading the file again and see what happens... Wink

I downloaded it again and did a bit by bit compare, files were equal. Being a file inside an exe inside a zip, I imagine a corrupted download would have had a more immediate symptom.

Thanks horseman88 for trying... Wink

Odd that it's only happening on your machine DR. I'm wondering about file placement or something perhaps with your particular hardware, OS or drivers. Strange for sure, but I'm glad you got it sorted. Smile

I am using XP SP2, tried the D18 on a virgin install of FS2004 with only the 9.1 patch and FSUIPC 3.71 as addons.

DR, sorry that you are having issues.

I'm sure the package here has all the updates but you can check here to be sure:
