The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. Post subject: North Dakota Armor

I was up in North Dakota finalizing a position in the North Dakota Highway Patrol when I found this little A3 hiding off of I-94 in Dawson, so just wanted to confirm you have the right SN and tank. So it turned out to be a great all around trip and the town I got posted in has a Sherman...

See link for SN.

Try this picture, this picture is a good one, I was not sure what to do when I saw the sign...I guess they are saying climb on up...

Very Nice,

Pretty unusual to see one with the Grenade launchers still mounted for a ALP/VFW tank. If you check the left front tow lug you might get lucky and see what's left of the old A1 SN. Sometimes they didn't completely grind them off at Mainz. Looking at her I'd bet she was a 8000/9000 series tank.

Yeah, those signs are pretty much a requirement with the bottom feeders suing everyone these days. At least it's better than the "Keep Off" or "Do Not Climb on Tank" signs. We had a discussion a while back how it deprives many kids the chance to really enjoy a tank. I could understand if the Tank sported a pristine paint job and markings. It's not cheap to paint one right, but many are pretty much wearing the same colors they had when retired.

Thanks for sharing.

I looked at the tow lug nothing left. But the tank was great it was straight out of a old MATES/UTES I'm guessing, all marking were gone but the old lady there thought it came from Minnesota...prior to being dropped off by the ND Guard...

NORTH DAKOTA

Have a couple of things on the ND armor.

First one is a question the Larimore Sherman has two numbers stamped into it. Not sure which is which or what the other is?

12558 and 836...

See picture. com-central.net/index....&pos=0
Also the Newman Grove listing is actually the Anamoose listing I believe because VFW Post 6831 is in Anamoose and we don't have a newman grove in North Dakota.

WISCONSIN

Also a quick side note I was able to confirm the M60 at Hixton Wisconsin for you, it was cool it had a machine gun still mounted.

And you have the SN right on it also.

Also sneaked in a visit to Fort McCoy which has a great park.
