Shermans in action in Michigan Aug 23-24
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

i know that there are several guys from the DG that live in the detroit area, did any of you happen to get over to the thunder over MI show? i had a prior commit for the weekend and couldnt attend. i understand that one or more M4's finally made it out to play, is that correct? did any one get pictures, if so could you please share them? shawn

Hey Chris, Thanks for posting. I had another event to attend. How many Shermans were there? One of the guys from the battery said there were 3, but I dont think he really knew the difference from the Sherman, the Stuart, and the Chaffee. One of the Stuarts broke down on the Belleville parade? The Sherman in the pics, did it come up from Kentucky? Shawn

1 Sherman, 4 Stuarts and a Chaffee
Yes, one of the stuarts blew a rad hose on the I-94 overpass, but they got it fixed pretty quick, and the sherman shed the rubber off a bogie wheel.

The Sherman, Chaffee and one Stuart came out of MA, the other Stuarts were from 14th armored out of KY, MO.

We are trying to get a hellcat for 09' and we are chasing a lead on a guy in OH who alledgedly has a Grant, trying to mix things up. I wish there was soem different German armor in the area, a Pz III or Pz IV would be sooooo cool to see out there.

chris, do you know who the fellow is in armada that has a sherman? i have heard of it, saw a fuzzy pic, but havent seen hide nor hair of it... sr

I know who you mean, he has an M4A1E8 and has apparently had issues with the radial, he went through a bad divorce a year or so back, and the prevailing rumor is that his ex did something to the tank..... I have not heard from him since 2006, so all my info is third hand, but I understand he still owns it, but it's just sitting in storage.
