What with havin' the day off and all, I tooted my way out to the Dulles Air & Space Museum and spent a few hours walkin' around takin a buncha pictures...only problem is, I have WAY too many! Like 130 or so of 'em after weeding out the bad ones. Far more aircraft than I cold mention or much less write captions for...some awesome shots though!

Question is, is it worth posting 'em? They're on photobucket as we speak..would make one awesome huge post....but would take a few minutes to load....interested?

I'd love to see 'em, but keep in mind that (probably while you were away), a rule was implemented about how many pic posts were permissible per thread (10 max). So you'd need to open multiple threads to get these up. Specific admin "request" to accomodate those on slower connections. Just a "heads up". Wink

Maybe establish one o' them public albums where we can all go as the mood hits?

OK here y'go, try this:

You'll need to log in with a public password which is: aeroplane

You can choose a slideshow - see upper-right corner - which will show the images with lower (sometimes horrible) quality. And the pictures are shown a bit out-of-order (bike pic should be the last pic but isn't).

The lighting in the museum didn't agree with my digital camera so I had to enhance them afterwards and the results aren't too bad.

There's a Do-335 in there several times, I kept coming back to it because I was blown away by how simply MASSIVE that thing is....I mean, it's HUGE!!!! Compares to the F-105 Thunderchief almost!

Speaking of the F-105 I was approached by a gent in the museum who's camera had died, he asked me to take his picture and with his son and grandkids with the F-105 and email him the shots, which I did....according to him he flew that plane in the National Guard (and I asked if he meant that very tail number and he said "Yes"). He had something like 18 flights in it. Hows that for coincidence??!

Glad you like it Fled, and to be honest, when I rounded the corner and saw that Uhu they're working on, I immediately thought of you!

Here's a few fuller-size shots (1024 native) that aren't terribly wrecked as bad as the ones the slideshow provides....some of the Enola Gay shots too, since I noticed the canopy pictures looked particularly cruddy in the slideshow re-sizing.....

And was that D-335 Pfiel like, HUGE, or what???? I was standing on all 6'-1" of my tippy-toes to get those shots at the wing root!

If you ever have the chance, you really almost need more than a full day to see everything. I need to go back and re-take some shots that didn't pan out, so if there's requests for more details of any aircraft, I'm all ears!
