Junior Johnson is still driving. Foyt, Gurney and Parnelli Jones participating (watch Gurney's incredible move taking the lead).

And watch these babies drift (to say nothing of making right turns)! So much talent assembled on this track, it's awesome. BTW, it's 1965.

That was GOOD and you're right - was much better when they used real cars!

Love the shot at 3:12 of the cars coming around the corner slidin' sideways....and damn shame about Foyt's wreck!

RIR was a great track, I went there a couple times in the 80's and caught some Can-Am and Formula Ford races, and an early IROC race. There were usually some good spins done in the hard turn right before the esses on the backstretch (I want to say turn 12?).

Notice the primary sponsor of Junior Johnson's car. It's worth noting historically that one of biggest nails in the coffin of the old white lightnin' trade of Wilkes County was the arrival of Holly Farms Chicken to the neighborhood, giving a lot of people jobs and a less risky way of earning butter and egg money.

Junior, of course, used to sling cars over the dirt roads in days before that, and he wasn't hauling chicken, either.

Gurney, BTW, was from Riverside (and drove everything in his career), so it's safe to say he had more time on that track than probably any other driver in this race.
