....IIRC all the M114's they used at Graf for berms and hard targets were white inside, but that was over 20 years ago and like Mark said, the memory is a little foggy sometimes.

Remember 1989?:

Range 117, 3/8 CAV, lane 3(I believe), BP 5, TT VIII-B (Dry Runs)

The M114 (berm embeded) was hit by the M1A1 at approx 20-30mph. The front slope sliced a nifty horizonal 'cut' in the side of the M114.

This was the 'missing turret-ring bolts' incident. It was the last times I was at Graf.

(Although we shot Bergen-Hohne twice after Graf).

Yep,

I remember, left there in 86 but heard of it when I was at FT Irwin. Was a big stink Army wide over those turret bolts. Funny, I was still a 19E at the time and still very doubtful of the M1's reliability. This incident didn't help my confidence at the time. I was very much a die hard diesel snorting M60 advocate at the time. That changed once I actually transitioned over and seen the light. I still had some very serious issues with the M1 but those were still eclipsed by all the advances in simplicity of repair and the awesome stabilization and fire control system. It was time for the old girl to be retired.

I remember seeing that impact mark, so I guess I was at Graf one more time, following that incident.

I always remember those M114 berms, with old track atop. Only on 117 as I remember.
