Some Serious Russian Mobility!
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I remember a German WW2 General saying something like "the Russian climate is a following of natural disasters : drought in Summer, ice and snow in Winter, a lot of mud in Autumn and Spring".

Remember General Snow and General Mud... Wink

So the Russian vehicles are made to fit the climate..

It is easy for those of us who live in more habitable terrain, to ignore the much less hospitable parts. The Russians don't have that luxury. They have enormous open plains with hundreds of feet of topsoil, and huge marshes where the water table is on the surface. Necessity is the mother of invention.
