Post subject: I think the bike is officially PARKED for the winter

Well it's all of 19 degrees outside this morning, we had some snow flurries earlier this week, and with daylight savings time it's dark by the time I get out of the office and fire up my mo'cycle for the ride home....coupled with the fact that my last ride home was in sloppy slow misty rain that went on all day long, just perfect to make sure all the roads were soaked without washing any oil off the road, and drivers here are entering the "silly season" where they do even more stupid things than usual, and then finally I found out the HARD way in the dark that they had torn up the asphalt on my freeway exit so all that was left was that rough grooved stuff with marbles...so all in all I had a good 3 close calls between that and a coupla idiots slamming on their brakes and me locking up the rear if I just barely breathed on the rear brake...a little more exciting than usual in an hour-long commute home to go 24 miles. The capper was when I backed the bike into the garage and shut it down and was mentally reviewing the events of the ride as I always do, the wife pokes her head into the garage and says "It's about time to park that for the winter, isn't it?"

Dammit I hate it when it's time to face the facts! Twisted Evil

So she's all cleaned up and polished and waxed, oil changed, Stabil in the gas tank, and the battery ready to come out and go on the trickle charger (which I can't quite yet commit to do until snow falls and sticks to the ground)...guess it's time to mow and rake the lawn one last time and sign off on yardwork for the season, and learn how to fire up these fancy flight-simulator-thingies we have. I'd been toying with the idea of riding all winter since the cold and the dark doesn't bother me anymore, but the gut says not to do it this year, and I'm gonna be going through some serious withdrawals... time to fly and get over it!

WAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

So which fact is the hardest to face - That it's time to park the bike or that your wife was right? Mr. Green

So, were you referring to the bike or the wife here? Maybe my problem was I didn't have any Stabil? Rolling Eyes

Bob - in 17 years now the one thing I've gotten used to, is her being right and me being wrong... Rolling Eyes Laughing

And you make a good point Ascout ol' buddy....wouldn't it be great if the guys at Sta-bil could come up with a version that worked on wimens...but it'd probably be one of those scenarios where the people working on the problem would be driven insane by the sheer complexity and nature of it.... Wink

19 degrees with snow flurries. All the more reason for TEXAS.
And the sun shines all day long. Around 75 degrees today and light wind 5-15 Wink
