Ash Flat Arkansas M47
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Ash Flat Arkansas M47
Got up this morning and decided to find the M47 at Ash Flat today. It was worth the trip.

They have a very nice memorial there. Called “The American Veterans Memorial” located on Nix Ridge Road. One of the nicer ones I’ve seen for such a small town. Used to pass through Ash Flat a lot before 2006, a friend of mine lived Northwest of there. I was in the big sandbox when they completed it and it’s sorta off the main highway. Explains why I never knew of it.

SN is 8065, not 1347 as listed by TACOM. It was stamped on both front tow lugs.

This is where they got 1347, it’s the cast number centered on the lower front hull.

Cast Mark

The Italian rebuild plate was missing but the plinth was still there. I’m glad they moved the old girl to this memorial. From what I could tell She sat in a dirt lot in front of the VFW in Paragould. Much better place to be displayed. I’m posting the Howitzer in the Artillery forum.
