Trip to Little Rock
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Trip to Little Rock

Went to Little Rock today and visited Camp Robinson,

Here is what I found,

At the National Guard Museum,

M114
M114 SN and RN ?
34.825461, -92.283909

M551
M551 RN
Had an awakening when looking at the rear, I suddenly remembered that's where the SN was located from when I was on them at NTC
M551 SN
34.825562, -92.283877

M60
M60 SN
M60 RN
34.825562, -92.283850

M55
No idea where the SN is, 34.825622, -92.283804

M47
M47 SN
34.825679, -92.283780

M113
M113 Right Front Head Lamp SN
M113 Right Rear SN
34.825736, -92.283909

M110
M110 SN
34. 825690, -92.283936

M247
M247 SN
First time I found a registration number on one, located under the left front headlamp assembly, just like the M60 series
M247 RN
34.825503, -92.284024

There is no M40 anywhere on the camp, I believe the 8" towed Howitzer at the gate is what caused the confusion, 34.819994, -92.277415. Could not get any pictures for obvious reasons.

At the other gate which is now closed off were two M42's.
M42
Data Plate SN 286 5286 SN ?
34.818998, -92.266544

M42
Data Plate SN 324 5524
34.818725, -92.266300

This may not be an AFV but I thought it was interesting, especially since the ID said so.
M26
ID sign, M60 ?

I also found two M60's tucked away in a storage yard, along with an ITV that belong to the museum.
M60
M60 SN 2010
M60 RN

M60
M60 SN 1950
M60 RN

You can see the ITV in front of this tank, but I kinda had to go so I didn't get any more pictures. I can't give a location for obvious reasons.

If anyone wants any different views of any particular vehicle let me know. I am posting some stuff on the artillery forum too.

Oh,

Forgot to mention it, but I used my new camera pole which has an articulated head and improved trigger device. Worked great and was much faster and easier to use. If anyone wants I can share the design and how it works.

Good finds. I'd be interest in the new pole design (nothing that will compromise your patent application, of course!).

Nice pictures, Joe. Thanks. Not that it makes that much difference but the Sheridan is an A1, The M110 an A2 and I think the M113 is an A2.

Yeah,

I knew that but got lazy, external slave receptacle on M551 helps ID her as an A1, Baffle on muzzle makes M110A2. Now for the 113, I can't tell between the A2 and A1.

Thanks Joe!

1. The M42 (and M41) numbers are duplicated on the mod plate: One is the build number, one is the Ordnance (official) S/N. Those two are S/N 286 and 324. I'm still looking for somebody to get in one of those with different build and serial numbers to report what's on the data plate so we know which is which. The middle digit varies, not sure what it means.

2. There were pictures published on the old geocaching site of the M40 at Camp Robinson at 34.8128N, 92.2896W, so it must have been moved.

3. I have an M48 AVLB S/N A1B072. Maybe the A1xxxx S/Ns were used for M48 rebuilds? Maybe AAD?

I tell the difference on the M551A1 by the laser range finder. The external slave receptacle was added later. They didn't have them when I was on the M551A1. The M113A2 has a different exhaust outlet than the A1 and there are two heater or bilge pump outlets on top. Can't remember which.

Michel,

The images show possibly two M40's at the entrance, but those satellite pictures are pretty old, at least 4-5 years. If you continue up the road you'll also see a lot of aircraft on display. The group on the left (west) are no more, the F105 and F104 are gone, only the F84 remains. I went through that gate at least 3 times, I'm quite sure I would have noticed them if they were there Smile ,

Joe,
Thats an M26A1 Dragon Wagon - the unarmored version. The baseline M26 actually does qualify as an AFV Wink
