Ft. Knox under assault!
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Now we just need to know how five low-wing monoplanes flew over the base unchallenged, accompanied by a mechanized column that approached from Muldraugh, yet was heading north when it turned left to (inexplicably) pass the LST building en route to the Bullion Depository Bldg. which was to it's south.

Nice mix of M59's, a few M113's, and a slew of M48's.

I remember well those "temporary barracks". They weren't that temporary for about forty years.

Somebody got bored watching "Goldfinger" Laughing ,

Always assumed the 48's were A2's based on the time period (1964). They aren't shown very long to get a good ID (DVD to the rescue) The A3's shown couldn't be more than 1-2 years old.

I just finished updates to my Google Maps,...

'Armored Ghosts of Ft Knox'

There have been some slight changes so I figured I'd post this update.

Don

Don,
Thanks for the Armored Ghosts update. I used the map to find the barracks I was in during basic in '88.

Wow Don,

Lot of moves since I was there last. The locations are mostly the same but the vehicles have changed.

What happened? Were all those AFV's out roaming at night and didn't make it back to their original pads in time Laughing
