Id for brad's Fort Sill pics
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Trevor
I'm almost 100% sure that 56 is a M7. All your arguments are true but they are all parts witch can be replaced. My point off recognition is the rear off the Priest, a M7B1 has a longer hull due the Ford V8. When the hull stops at the same place as the baskets on top its a short hull (M7), when its about 30 cm longer than the basket you've got a long hull( M7B1-B2)

That's an interesting point, Tichenor - and I bow to your knowledge as I'm sure there's no-one on this forum who's been as hands-on with the M7 series as you!

The M7 can have a lot of late features. We often look at the 1942 version as the "classic" M7, but the 1944 batch of M7s had "M4" type VVSS bogies, late transmission covers and modified sides. Some older M7s also received these features.

For some other views of an M7 with late features see my posing at;

Look under "Shermans Outside Nebraska" and go down to the M7 in Marysville, KS. This is an eary vehicle that was upgraded, probably before issue to the KS ArNG.
