Is this the complete registration number? (3016909) Hard to see but I'm in the TC's hatch. This is 1958 in Michigan.

Speaking of M47s I still have here, on my desk, a firing pin filched from a range target on Hohne ranges more years ago than I care to remember.

What's that worth I wonder?

Personal note - Its very quiet here as the Jareds have both gone back to their unit so they can deploy to the sandbox on friday. By the time they come back I'll have chewed all my finger nails down to the quick and beyond....

Worse thing is I'll have to read all the forum myself now and not rely on a quick summary delivered in the 'pre-op briefing' style I have got used to.

No - M47s would have eight-digit registrations. Numerology is sparse, but it's probably either in the 756 +/- 5 or 2848 +/- 5 serial number range.

Thanks Kurt. A little story to go with this photo: My dad was NCOIC of the motor pool at Selfridge AFB, Michigan. They were getting ready for a Saturday Armed Forces Day display. My dad contacted the Army and requested a tank for the event. He said Friday afternoon an Army truck rolls up and unloads the M47 then everyone got ready to leave. My dad asked them who was staying to be with the display and he was told that he had only requested a tank and not any soldiers. They all left and I don't think the tank was used. Since it was in 'his' motor pool he took us kids down and let us play around in it. Mr. Green
