Oh Although the picture is probably an F-86D it could also be an F-86K or L which also had a radome nose above the air intake

Well you guys seem pretty sure its an F-86 model, but I was thinking an F-100. What would be the difference? (Remember I am a CDAT and know squat about wingy-thingys!)

Well I was going to explaine why I thought it was an F-86 but.....

After looking at pictures of F-86s I think I see one feature that definitley makes it an F-100.

I thought that an F-100 would have a 'flatter' cross section and a larger air intake in relation to the cockpit but ....

Looking at the aft fuselage where the tailplane is attached it appears to have a single low set mounting point. This would be indicative of a slab tailplane of an F-100 where an F-86 has a higher mounted stabilisor. So I must admit that I am converted to beliveing it is an F-100 Rolling Eyes

Late to the game, but I guessed F100 too.

Growing up in Tucson AZ, I got to see a lot of these older birds as they were dismembered for parts and eventually scrapped. I got pretty good at figuring out what a particular bird was even with parts missing and the guts exposed. It was sad, but I guess we'd run out of space if we kept them all...
