M60A1E2 Stuff (M60A2)
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I wonder if it is just a marker pole so the TC knows where the bow is

I think whenever you see a regular M60 deep wading the gun is elevated and probably breaks the surface to give a reference point. The short 152 probably wouldn't be long enough to provide a marker. But this is all just a guess Wink

I'll bet it is. If the pole goes under water you need to back up!

Don, can I post these with credit at my flickr group? I love the one with the missile.

That has got to be a concept drawing,

I have a hard time believing that pole as tall as it is and unsupported would not break when entering/moving through the water.

Don't think I've ever seen an A2 with a Bilge pump either, wasn't standard Army equipment until the A3's came out.

Haven't seen the top picture before,

Thanks Don

Alas, no...I was off in Thua Thien and Quang Tri provinces after AIT and Sheridan School in early '71. That vehicle, however, bears the same registration number as the one of the Shillelagh Missile night launch pic I have from the Photo/Graphics Branch of the Armor Board.

Some of those pictured are M60A1E2 versions. The Initial Production Test project of the M60A2 that I was on ran from ~Sept. '73 - Spring '74. I ETS'd in mid-Dec. before the project was over.

I don't recognize any of those guys in first pic, but given timeframe, that's not unusual. I'd like to see a higher res shot, however, to try to read nametags.

That's the first picture I've seen of RN 09A93869.

Keeping tabs on all M60A1E1 and E2 RN's to solve a puzzle.

Got eight so far, need another eight or twelve, most likely twelve E2's. Have all the E1's AFAIK.

Every one that's posted I examine very closely. Keep 'em coming.

Joe,
You're right, the "night launch" shot is of 09A 939 69.

Was waiting for me when I got home tonight, very nice to come home to from Amsterdam. Some things never change, like ACAV's, M548's, and what you can find at "gravesites". Wink

I'll have some stuff to send your way soon.
