Patton Museum 60th Anniversary display...
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

For our denizens of Ft. Knox/Patton Museum;

IS this still on? I just want to make sure before I burn some favors to get off work so I can attend. I haven't watched a Sherman run for a long time.

Any time frame for the activities that day? Any tentative lists of vehicles that will be running and/or on display?

Thanks guys, I'm getting excited about this.

Yes, it is still on. The schedule of events is on the web site, www.armorfortheages.com Just go to the 60th Anniversary Celebration page.

There will be display areas for World War II, Korea, Vietnam and present day vehicles. As for what specific vehicles, can't officially say yet. Some things planned for display haven't been seen by the public in many years. As soon as I we get the official word, it will be reported here.

VERY well put....

Specifics might spoil the surprize..... Mr. Green

Guess y'all will just have to make plans, it should be an event well worth the trip.

See you in May

Too bad there aren't some Com-Central hats or t-shirts we could wear to recognize forum members there. Confused

Thanks for the update. I know we will be vulnerable to the weather, but it is my intent to be there with camera(s) in hand. I'm looking forward to this and have put the schedule requests in to my boss.

Do the AFV News guys get free Sherman tank rides?

Ummm, probably not. Liability issues. We can ask, but don't count on it happening. Sorry.

That would be cool but I'll just be happy being around one running.

Shameless self-promotion.

The Patton Museum 60th Anniversary Celebration commemorative poster is now on sale at the the Patton Museum gift shop. They will do mail orders. Created by yours truly. Smile

Thanks, Jeff. Also, all profits go to the museum. I'm not getting anything out of it.

I hope that everyone that comes will enjoy the show.

Well done Garry, it does look good.

Its why 'we' let you keep coming back......ha ha ha.

Although, I still can't figure out why 'they' keep letting me hang out and actually do some of the stuff I get to do.....

Garry,

NICE poster! I am in the process of reservations, etc. Looks (so far) like I'm going to get to attend. I presume I can pick up a poster on scene?

Here's hoping for good photographic weather!

The posters are on sale at the museum gift shop. I'm sure they will have plenty onhand during the event.

www.generalpatton.org/...t_shop.asp

Hope to see everyone there, not sure what I'll be doing, but I will be onsite. If nothing else, I'll be at the information booth ( Welcome ) Laughing

Well, I've been wanting a "Sherman" poster for some time. I always liked the ones they had there that were portraits of the Generals the tanks were named after, but this poster right here is exactly what filled the need and having General Patton along with the Shermans is even better.

Maybe I can have it enlarged somewhere after it arrives.
