The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

M60A3 Patton AAD Rebuild s/n 2202A

Went out and got the third and final Cincinnati Patton today. A bit more involved to find than the other two were, lots of hills on the way there.

There is a lot of paint on this one.

Couldn't find anything on the tow lugs

Only barely visible on the engine deck, looks like it's right?

Good work! Do you have any lat/long coords for them?

Would you be able to locate on "Google Earth"? Would be able to pull lat/lon off of that.

Assuming I did this right (extremely approximately):

39 deg 10' 39.07" N
84 deg 11' 46.13 W

It's a little bit to the east of the listed address (1596 OH-131)

Does this look about right? (I can't make out the vehicle even at tighter scale, but you might be able to confirm the neighborhood)

ShermanWasRight - you could try my 'tank finding' gadget at PreservedTanks.com, you might find it easier:

preservedtanks.com/Mapping.aspx

I think Doug has the right neighbourhood - paste the following into the box at the top and press the Enter button next to it:

N39 10' 39.07" W84 11' 46.13

Then zoom in (with the slider, or mouse wheel). When you get close, change to Satellite view, then move around until you think you've found the tank. With the white crosshairs over the tank, you can read its lat/long off the bottom left in decimal format (and click there, to display it so you can copy it to the clipboard).

Edit: Ok, found it myself. Your location was actually pretty much spot on. Here I'm reading 39.1775, -84.1961 for the white cross:

- it's not surprising Doug couldn't see it! Although I'm a huge fan of Google maps, in this case it's come up short. Without a doubt, in this contest the crown goes to Microsoft's Virtual Earth - this is what we get for 39.1775, -84.1961:

(Click on the link here, then enter 39.1775, -84.1961, then click Bird's Eye, then zoom in

That's pretty spooky, Trevor. Where "birdseye" view is available, the resolution is incredible. I can practically peek into my own windows with it. Shocked

Doug - it's impressive isn't it! Though, as Neil has shown, where a Google street view is available it's even higher resolution. Unfortunately, outside the US, the mapping is generally lower resolution - I'm finding that particularly in my current work on tanks in France and Poland.
