The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

What was the intended application of the halftrack with the "bambino crane"...light vehicle recovery, cargo handling like crates of ammo from trucks? All of the above. Not familiar with that one.

I want to say it had something to do with looking over the Suez Canal - I could be completely off, but I seem to remember something like that was used between '67 & '73...

Thank you, that's exactly what I envisioned this thing doing. Too light for most recovery, but pallets of ammo are a bitch to unload from flatbeds.
