PAK 43/41 88mm AT Gun
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Just wanted to pop in a few shots of another unique piece that we are tinkering with, taken today.

BTW:

Last weekend the breech and assembly were disassembled. She is no demiled and is now a 'semi' operational gun. Problems with the recoil buffer keep it from full function.

It would be cool if we had an 88 dummy round to make a 'sub-cal' device for the upcoming demonstration, but alas no such luck. Look for her to be displayed, slightly dressed up at the end of May.

The first time this piece has been exhibited to the public. One of many surprizes, at a 'Don't Miss' event.

The 223 is my current 'cosmetic' (mainly preservation) restortion project.

She is to get repainted next week. (the primer paint is to prep the areas that were bare metal due to preservation work to remove rust. Following full exterior repaint, It will be dressed up for public exhibit and eventually to join the WWII gallery within the museum.

The real pity is not having the time (or funding) to do a full restoration. Unlike many of the Original Collection vehicles, the 223 has fared well over the years, and her engine is originally complete. A true gem that might some day get the indepth attention that can easily bring her back to life.

Oh well,....in the meantime, I'm trying to do as much as possible to get her presentable for the end of the month.

It seems I have a 'thing' Rolling Eyes for the little oddities in the collection.... Wink Laughing

Regards
Don
