That's why ShoRAD is pretty much history. After all, training a troop how to use a Stinger is just as easy as teaching them the Javelin. No need for a separate MOS for a threat that really doesn't exist.

When was the last time US ground forces faced a credible threat from the air?

On that note, when were they last effectively attack from the air?

Points brought up when I was in ANCOC during a discussion on what MOS's are redundant.

The Marine Corps faces much the same battle with regard to amphibious assaults - people point out that the last one was Inchon... But they like to point out that the last nuclear weapon was used in anger in 1945, and we still keep a whole lot of them around...

I went thru forward observer school at Fort Sill. Looking at all the cars and trucks on Signal Mountain makes me all nostalgic.
