some Aberdeen Vehicles
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: some Aberdeen Vehicles

Hello everyone, I've started a little project over here tinyurl.com/p58plg I thought it might be nice to put all the Aberdeen vehicles in one place, so I've started posting them but as usual I need a little from my friends. I have several Unknowns, I'm pretty sure you all can ID them. Thanks a bunch for the help.Give me a few days to get the rest posted, then any you don't see please feel free to add them. I know the collection will be on the move soon and a lot of people will never get the chance to see these, so maybe this will help some....
This is not going to work for 56K folks, sorry

#42 in your B lot is an M60A2 "Starship"

you can find a PDF on identifying M60 variants here

In 'Lot A'

Picture 1 is an M108 SP 105mm Howitzer
Picture 15 is an M109 SP 155mm Howitzer

I believe Picture 4 is a T54/55
and Picture 12 is an LVTP7 hull

I think it curious that you knew all the oddball vehicles but had problems on what were probably the most common postwar vehicles Rolling Eyes

In 'Lot B'

Picture 19 - I do mnot believe this is a 'DD' vehicle but just a 'Deep Wading' test vehicle

Picture 23 is the hull of an M107 or M110 (175mm SP gun or 8" SP Howitzer)
Picture 29 is an M-8 AGS
Picture 32 is an M60 (This is the one with the experimental shocks which has JoeD interested Mr. Green )
Picture 33 is an M47( or it's T series predecessor)
Picture 37 is technically the T series predecessor to the M103
Picture 41 is a T54/55
Picture 42 as already noted is an M60A2

In 'Lot C'

Picture 48 - UNK - is the M44:

#111 on this page:

www.preservedtanks.com...p;Select=4

It seems to have survived better than most of those others.

It has been through the refurb shop. The difference between it and the other ones that have is that there was obviously track available for it. Most of the others that have been through refurb that were in those areas did not have tracks or they would have been moved to the display areas. Track for VVSS Shermans and Ontos have proven impossible to acquire

Thanks Neil, the list slipped my mind. Would anyone happen to have a pics of the vehicles in the Museum Warehouse (Building 5045) that I could include in the photo listing? Any pics would help, most of mine are predigital and very green. Thanks everyone
