Here is a link to what I saw at Fort Knox this morning
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

They open just fine for me, very nice pics. Whose markings are on the M8? I don't recognise those at all.

Cheers

John

Those look great! As we drove by this morning it didn't look as busy or crowded as yesterday. I took a few pics as well as video. Great day in the sun for sure!

That guy in the middle of photo 10 looks like he's telling a helluva' tale about what he's doing there before being ejected from the premises. Laughing

Jeff

This is the HT, I was driving. This is from Saturdays show. notice feed tray is raised,.... My gunner had expended our allotment of 200 rds of .50 cal, by this point.

The P51 fly over was a neat touch. He flew out of Lexington. Just enough flight time to make 3 'strafing runs' and make it home.

Thanks for posting vid & photos, I wasn't able to get any photos, a bit too busy.

Regards
Don

in the last few seconds of the Sherman video, you seem to have captured a 'fellow' AFV DG member, who also made the 'trek' to see our modest little exhibit.

Hope everyone enjoyed it. I know I had a blast.

John

The M8 has the 'Constabulary Force' markings, which had previously been in the museum on display with a jeep, for many years. With the rotation of displays and vehicles over the past few years, the M8 was moved to (indoor) storage in Richardson MP. It was included as a static exhibit vehicle due to its presentable condition.

It is in excellent condition and complete, although not operational.

Great photos AJ. Sorry I missed you and Jeff. I did get to visit with Gary Binder though. My "command" is in photo 9, the WC-51 towing the 57mm. You can see the top of my helmet behind the truck bed. I was probably fiddling with ammo or something.

I'm not even sure if the crowd saw me, much less heard the gun. It only fires .50 caliber blanks, so with all of the other racket and the PaK 40 going BOOM!, its report is insignificant from a distance.

As others send me photos of the event, I'll be posting a photo report on the Armor for the Ages web site. I'll let you know when they are up.

Garry
