The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I bet he is, but if he isn't, I highly recommend Joe check it out. I've contacted Pierantonio a few times over the years and always found him to be most helpful. Some great M47 stuff over there, too. Many thoughtful contributors. I recommend going in at this page:

And clicking on subsections for the various contributors' offerings. I learned a lot that I couldn't find "domestically", way back when...
Italiano translates pretty easily into Inglese in print, and of course, we have an "on-board" translator at Com-Central on the home page, but it doesn't always capture the subtleties.

BTW, if you know where I can get one of those great Italian leather tanker jackets in a 42" chest, I'd love to have one!

Yes, as far as I know, all the ERA tanks came from the USMC. Ferreamole's website confirm this.

BTW Since on another thread you are asking about italian M60s near the austrian border, you can see one on this page:

The tank is inside "De Carli" barracks at Cordenons.

The text says it served in Somalia and was hit by an RPG shot on the M19 cupola. There were damages, but no penetration. The tank was repaired and re-entered service later on.
