Middletown, OH M4 Sherman?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Yeah, as I warn in the intro, I am a bit more suspect on the WWII era vehicles from the TACOM Central Registry. For all I/we know it was donated in the late 40s or in the 50s, and has since gone to who-knows-where...

I have even come across an old picture on flickr of a Stuart in a town square in NJ that's not there anymore that as far as I can find... I think Stuarts in particular are more apt to being gone, perhaps since they're more easily movable Wink

A friend of mine who goes to college at Earlham told me about a story about one of the Stuarts at the courthouse in Richmond. Apparently at some point in the past some students managed to start one of them up, and drove it over to the campus. It might just be a story but it's a pretty funny one either way Smile

I thought the Lima Sherman was on permanent display? At the City of Lima Utility Office - which used to be the Ohio's Servicemen's Free Canteen?

Neil,
The tank used to be displayed in a separate building at the rear of the Allen County Historical Museum along with A Chrysler Humvee prototype and a WW1 Liberty truck. I was up there in April and they told me that it now is usually stored at the nearby oil refinery. They maintain it and I believe some of the volunteers that operate work there also. Prior to restoration in the 80s it sat on an empty lot behind the museum since I first saw it in 1976. I don't know of it ever being permanently displayed at the utility office but it could have been there on a temporary basis. The museum bought the tank from the army in 1957 for $1 it had been at the Lima tank depot prior to that.
