Finally captured this elusive beast, M60A2
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

This one has been on my list to check out in person since learning of her a few months back.

M60A2 SN 4800, RN JK00BK.

Located in a field on Redstone Arsenal. She is Not a hard target, but is used instead as an "Optical" target for certain devices. Still had the caps on the intercom system and was recoil exercised in 1979. Very complete inside. I would hope when they finish using her they would put her on display somewhere on the Arsenal.

Although not as in demand as , let's say a Sherman or Tiger, She is a rare beast. I also know that there is least one person interested in these tanks Wink

Factoids: Surviving M60A2's I can confirm with pictures.

4430 Aberdeen Proving Grounds
4594 Freeland PA (unconfirmed SN)
4666 Fort Knox KY
4703 East Brady PA (unconfirmed SN)
4710 Danville VA (unconfirmed SN)
4725 Ephrata PA (unconfirmed SN)
4825 MVTF Portola CA
4830 Anderson IN, only known Blade example (unconfirmed SN)

There are supposedly two at Anniston Army Depot. One in storage and one on display.

So SN 4800 is either one of nine or one of eleven. Hoping to confirm the Anniston tanks in the next few months.

Neil,

Sorry Neil,

Didn't realize you were using those for the register

I cleaned up my Photo bucket the other day. The only one I don't delete stuff off is my M60 folder.

Give me a week or two and I'll make a folder with all my other AFV's that I won't delete. Been toying with the idea since I do have a quite a few pics of stuff other than M60's.

I can confirm that the East Brady M60A2 is S/N 4703. It's stamped on the tow lug and engine deck. The hull is painted JK006C, which is correct. The glacis is stamped 211, which might be the build number.

Thanks Kurt,

I thought that one had been confirmed a while back, most likely by you, but I think I was overseas at the time and didn't have access to my stuff.

Joe,

At Anniston they had an M60, M60A1 and M60A2 all parked together. You are not allowed to photograph there or I'd have a picture. I do have a photo from there of an M60A2 turret on a T95(?) chassis.

Thanks Mark.

I'm curious as to how dated the satellite image is. I'll do my best to capture those there too Wink .
