Trieste, Museo Diego de Henriquez: Humber
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

My knowledge of english armoured cars is very weak, I know it's an Humber, could you please identify the exact model?

Well it was originally a Mk 4 but it has been modified - I would be interested in seeing if that main armament is something new or just a fabricated fake.

Thanks Jim.

Other vehicles in the collection have fake armament.
Italians tend to take extreme measure whenever they have to demil a vechicle, especially back at the time when the collection was assembled.

How do you get access to this museum Massimo?

You have to call:
www.retecivica.trieste...efault.asp

In the past part of the collection, without the vehicles, was visible in Via delle Milizie 16, with vehicles and heavy equipment just a few blocks away in Via C. Cumano 24 (former army barracks) opened on request.

Now even Via delle Milizie is closed, and the hangars in Via Cumano are tipically opened for group visits that last around an hour.

I asked the permission to spend more time and take pictures on my own. I had to wait quite some time to fit both my personal schedule and the Museum crew availability, but in the end I've got a few hours of time. I have to comply to some requirements, like listing all the vehicles I covered and add a watermark.

People in charge of Trieste's museums are aware this is a unique collection, but a final accomodation will have to wait since other museums take priority; I can't blame them. As a matter of facts they are spending a lot of money to build a new home for Natural Science Museum in Via Cumano, just next to the hangars where the tanks are stored. Hopefully in the future they will do the same for Diego de Henriquez Museum, but it's not going to happen very soon.
