The Netherlands AFV Registers
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Hi Bialy-r

I have been checking and sofar I could only find 1 vehicle in the Netherlands
It is part of the Army Museum Delft and is some where at an depot, only open for public during special military events.

Link below to some picture's (site Dutch only)

www.collectie.legermus...iatheek&q=

and just the vehicle

www.collectie.legermus...72_001.jpg

The Dutch description for this vehicle is AMX-PRA
PRA meaning "pantserrups artillerie", that would be something like: armored tracked artillery

I do not think that there will be others left in the Netherlands of the original 82 vehicles
They are withdrawn from service because it was not possible to keep them running

I found an article about an trophy for the most operational mechanized artillery unit, that won with only 1 out of 18 vehicle's working Shocked
The last vehicle was put out of service in 1982

Massimo you will like it, because it is Italian and was build in 1916
The Italian army has used it untill the beginning of 1930

Hi Bialy,

no I did not know this OT-810, but I did some research because of the text at the bottom of the picture (Army Cars and Nijverdal)

The picture's are not from the Army Cars museum collection, I think that the photographer is some how connected to the museum

Army Cars has an large depot at Breda, not at Nijverdal and that is an 190km, 2 1/2 hour drive

Nijverdal has his own vehicle trading company called Staman Intenational trading and I thnk the picture's where taken there

I forgot all about them, thanks for the post Wink

By the way is some-one interested in buying an SA-6 Gainfull launcher?
Staman is selling them for the owner (Czech Republic) about 9500 euro each Mr. Green

www.stamantechniek.nl/...k.nl/shop/

Staman sold to a friend of mine 9 cylinders for a Continental R-971 C1 engine that will run his Sherman.
It's a very well known trading company, that has a lot of Sherman parts.

Hi P-O,

your friend also interested in M3 tanks?
Apperently Staman has 2 for sale, price on request

Bialy,
I think there may be more then just 1 OT-810
Because Staman is also selling spare engine's, transmisions and front axle's for the OT-810

I definitely have to check this site more often Cool

Hi folks,

I came across an advertisment today, for the sale of an M74 ARV in Overasselt - The Netherlands

The description in the advertisment reads:
M74 M4 1945 Ford GAA V8 engine

Would this be the correct description?
M74 would be correct, how about the rest of the description?

Michel

I have some trouble with the date. As far as I know the M74 was a rebuild from around 1954, based on a M4A3E8 chassis (and that could be builded in 1945). The Ford GAA is correct.

Thanks Michel,

so it should read something like
M4A3E8 (1945 build) based M74 with Ford GAA V8 engine

Does some one known's what has happened to the M74 ARV that used to be at the Wings of Liberation museum at Best?

All I could find so far, are some old picture's of it on the Sherman's in Holland site
www.shermantank.nl/

Nothing from an recent date, so is it still there or is it gone??

Hi folks,

been to the Army Cars Museum at Zwijndrecht today (thursday) and walked around an little to take some photo's (it helps knowing the staff an little) Wink

First an up-date concerning about is it open or not
The official opening day is wednesday and depending on following factor's they decied to let you in
- how busy the staff is with restoring vehicle's or other activities;
- how much people there are standing at the entrance gate;
- the time it took for visitors to get to the museum;
- how difficult the visitor's language is to understand;

So best chance to get in is, is to pretend that you are with a full choach of people from China who do not speak English Mr. Green

Let get back to the museum collection
All the Russian truck's are gone, they have been sold all together to one buyer
All so most of the Rogers trailers have been sold, there is only 1 remaining of the about 6 that have been there

The collection looks an little chaotic at the moment, but there are some new vehicle's to fill-up the gaps

I will put them in a seperate post, because with some of them I will need help

Also I have serial numbers of the following vehicle's
- the Russian Shilka
- the german Kanonen Panzer
- the german Raketen Panzer

However I will need to sort out the picture's first

Michel

1ste of the mistery vehicle's

According the museum this is an Swiss build Saurer truck and it has beeen used in the Swiss army

- who known's what type of truck this is
- more important, who known's why the steering wheel is on the wrong side of the truck Confused

Standard all vehicle of continental Europe have the steering wheel on the left side of the vehicle

2nd mistery vehicle

Who know's what type of truck this is
On the radiator there are 2 letters: AS
These 2 letters appear also on various other parts of the truck

All I could find so far was on an plate inside the cabin
Besides an lot of numbers it also tells us
model type : S
manufacturer : Kelly
and the line "the heavy aviation truck US signal corps"

It looks like something WW 1 or just after that

Should be a Saurer 2 CM. Please note I am not an expert in this field. I just have pictures from a bunch of trucks stored in Switzerland

- more important, who known's why the steering wheel is on the wrong side of the truck

In the past it was considered priority for a military driver to keep an eye on the right side of the road. Most old italian and swiss trucks have the steering wheel on the right

Hope it will help
