Fort Leonard Wood MO
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Fort Leonard Wood MO

Had some business up there yesterday so I took advantage of it,

Please excuse the quality, I couldn't get started until late and the sun was setting. Also, please feel free to correct any errors in ID.

These are all located at the New Museum grounds at the intersection of South Dakota and Nebraska Avenue.

Grizzley G002
Was originally M1 D746, RN JZ01DC

POA-CWS-H1

M1059 Smoke Track

M113A2 SN MSJ 18205
Sign on display stated she was an M113A3.

M132A1

POA-CWS-H5

M67A1

M706

M9 ACE SN 6

Rome Plow

M728 SN 1
First production CEV

These are located South of the museum lot in the old WWII Barracks area on West 19th street.

M4A3E8 Intersection of 19th and Nebraska

M4 West 19th Street About 100 meters West of the tank above

M4A3E8 West 19th Street About 100 meters West of the M4 above.

All these are located on Iowa Avenue.

M41 Located South of the parade field

M46 At the intersection of Iowa and Kansas Avenue. This is the only M46.

M728 SN 266 RN JP0008 Located at the corner of Iowa and West 12th Street. This is where the M46 was located. I also don't believe the SN is correct, but that's what's painted on. Should be a Mid 300 from what I can tell. Very late production CEV.

I also found the other M41 on Iowa Avenue on the North side of the parade field. There is also an OIF 5 ton Gun Truck on display along this road along with the T55 with KMT mine rollers and a MTU 12 or 20 Bridge Layer. At the intersection of North Dakota and Constitution Avenue is an M1 105mm, LVTP-5 (unknown version) and an A10 Wart Hog. Just inside the I-44 (North) Gate to the East are an M60A1 AVLB, M706, and a FOX NBC Recon. Unfortunately I ran out of daylight. I hope to capture these next time I go, which should be soon. If there are any special requests let me know

Cool pics, Joe. The POA-CWS-H1 is a M42B1E9. I have pics of it on my site when it was at Ft. McClellan back in 1991: www.toadmanstankpictur...42b1e9.htm

I also have pics of the POA-CWS-H5, M67A1 and M706 when they were at McClellan during the same time period as the flame Sherman. I'll have to post them this week. It's nice to see everything with a decent coat of paint on them.

Did you happen to see a second M706 during your visit? The MP Museum at McClellan had two of them, one indoors and one out.

Chris,

Just inside the I-44 (North) Gate to the East are an M60A1 AVLB, M706, and a FOX NBC Recon.

Joe,
Is this a combined museum display between the US Army Engineer Museum, the US Army Chemical Corps Museum and the US Army Military Police Regimental Museum? Or do they have separate display areas?

It's now combined.

The building looked like it was still being completed (Indoors). You can see the display lot on Google Maps satellite image.

Neil,

The M46 was removed from that bridge, A CEV is on it now. See the last picture in my original post. Has Xmas lights on it Mad

Did not see the M48A5, but doesn't mean She's not on the post. I ran out of daylight. I think She might be at the same location as the M1 and LVTP-5.

Your AVLB might be the one at the I-44 North gate. In your image I see the FOX in the background. It is an M48A2 AVLB. Crew cupolas, launcher foot, square fenders and 3 support rollers ID her. I only caught a glimpse of her when leaving that night.

M1059 is the third picture I posted, same location.

Should've read the Data plate closer "Model UET-3 Serial Number 6, USA Registration Number 8C 8468"
