I just noticed that doesn't have hooks on it, is it a FT17?

I wish we could get some definitive info on the difference between M1917 and FT17.

All M1917's I've seen have the hooks just aft of the turret, feel free to correct this. I think if you look at Pierre's pics you will see this, the M1917's have hooks, the FT17's don't. The muffler and front wheel are also a give aways, but the hooks you can spot from a long ways off. I always thought they were to lift the tank aboard ship for the big trip to war, but i don't know that....

A good example of what I'm saying, no hooks makes it a FT17, sometimes hard to tell where the muffler is in pics. Hooks stand out in almost all views

I found this, this must be the factory that is making M1917's, notice hooks..the top pic must be a pattern tank, for lack of any other term...

I notice some turrets are cast and others plate. I wonder if that makes a difference for IDing?

some don't have turrets, but Pierre knows about the turrets. Again a "simple" way is the hooks and it seems to be true 99.9% of the time. Lets don't make this too hard.
