The Netherlands AFV Registers
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Youre welcome

and I'm still finding new stuff every week Laughing

I'm also planning to visit some of the big WW2 events in the Netherlands this year, to see "what may come to the surface"

This year is the 65th year of the liberation, so there will be some special things happening

Michel

I didn't see a listing for a privately owned T17E1 Staghound. I have recently had contact with such an owner in the Netherlands, but not sure exactly where.

Don

Hi Don

you know the problem with privately owned vehicle's, most of the time you will only find them accidentally

So I decided to release the first copy with the vehicle's that are easy to find and check
I'm still working on the privately owned vehicle part of the register

However after youre post I did some digging and I have actually found one privately owned

The vehicle is from an member of Keep Them Rolling, somewhere in the north-east part the Netherlands
The vehicle has Canadian markings and the number on the vehicle is 116588 with the Dutch plate ZZ-71-76

Around time 2:29-2:36 the Staghound appears in the following video
www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lwYZ9AK0Fw
The video was taken in 2005 during an military event called "Liberty Tour"

So far this is the only thing of visual evidence about an privately owned Staghound that I could find

Of the privately owned military vehicle club's, the vehicle's from "Keep them Rolling" are the most difficult one's to trace
Mainly because there is no real list if vehcile's (at least I did not find it) and they operate nation wide

Hi Michel

Congratulations with your work.
As usual, when it appears online, there will be remarks.

Here are mine: the M7B2 Priest you have for Helmond (private collection) has moved to Eindhoven. They have also a M5 Half track and a Humber Mk IV. See www.priestm7b1.nl (BTW it was a B2 but its been rebuild to B1, SN 4376 RN 40152839).

The entry for Ede (private collector) is (if my information is correct) in 't Harde. He also has a M20, Ferret, two universal carriers, a M16 half track. The M36 Jackson listed a bit further is also his.

Is it possible that the Sherman "After Hitler" (a Sherman from Overloon) is RN 3026601?
The SN is for sure 15499

it still is Mr. Green

There are some differences between the old picture and this new one
The most distinct one is the missing of the two exhaust at the lower edge of the rear plate Confused

I will add the SN and RN to the file
The best way to hide, is to hide in plain sight

What the heck is being portrayed in the photograph in the background? It almost looks like a "Holy hand grenade of Antioch" Monty Python moment.

Seriously, I hope it wasn't services for a lost crew. Sad

If I remember correct that is exactly what it is

Besides the famous vehicle collection there is also an small part of the museum concerning the other side of war

And part of this is, at least has been in the past because the subject changes from timt to time, are the shot down crew's from RAF and USAF plane's

I think there about 4-5 of these burriels a year, it is getting less over the years

If crew members from the RAF are recovered, they usually recieve an burial with full military honor at the local cemetery or an central cemetery
I think this also happens with recovered USAF crews, however they are all at the central US cemetery Margraten

Holland was the main high way for the allied bombers going to Germany and returning from Germany

There is an Dutch site concerning war graves in Holland and there are more then 470 cemeteries where Commonwealth graves are
About only 50 of these locations have more then +/- 25 graves, most of the others only 1 - 10

Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green
Funny movie!

I think it has something to do with a (re-)burial of a soldier
Link below is about two crewmembers of a British bomber.
