Today at Oirschot
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Today at Oirschot

The tankbat at Oirschot is having a familyday and invited some historic vehicles.

Centurion, this one is from the cavalrymuseum in Amersfoort because the one from 330 Material Support Platoon was broken down.

Serialnumber? This 1530 correspondents with the digits in the registrationnumber (KX-15-30). I didn't see this type of numbers on other NLD Centurions, but that could be because of the layers of paint on some....

M113C&V, the blue unit emblem on the left (looking in 12 o'clock) is not the original unit, but a ''modern'' unit which put a sticker on the vehicle.A10 means A-coy, 1st plt and 0 is the vehicle of the plt commander

Serialnumber of the M113C&V

They told me this is a M3..Didn't dare to smoke a cigarette in this vehicle because of the gasoline fumes Shocked

YP-408PWCO, couldn't find a serial on this one, maybe someone knows were to look. Former 45th Infantry Battalion vehicle. Now property of 330 Material Logistic Plt at depot Maaldrift in Wassenaar

Leopard 1V r/n KU-94-61. Also from 330 Material Logistic Plt at depot Maaldrift in Wassenaar. I love the sound of this V10 engine, you feel the vibrations in your stomach.

The 330 Mat Log Plt is also called the props department. Its an active army unit which keeps vehicles in drivable conditions and show up at family days, open days, reunions etc. It is based at Maaldrift depot in Wassenaar and this collection has nothing to do with the army museum Delft according to a SgtMaj of ''330''

Interesting, Lesley....

I have pictures of KX 15-10 (from outside ramp) and KX 15-20 from the indoor exhibit...don't recall or have pics of a KX 15-30. New addition, or was it hiding?

Best,
Doug

The "new" Centurion is not an new addition and has not been hiding
It's part of the mobile collection of the Cavalry museum

And only show's up at parade's, a military family day, or events like this
The remaining time it's in storage somewhere, so you will have to be lucky to find it

Michel

Well hidden it was indeed....I was there with an active duty escort from that base and was granted access to places definitely not on the public tour.

I can't imagine the Brits having any Cents that are more gorgeously maintained than the Dutch ones, but I haven't been to the RAC tank museum, so can't say for sure.

Saturday the M10 of Maaldrift was also parked at the motor pool. Unfortunately I could not find a serial number, there was no data plate in the drivers compartment.
