Preserved Russian Tank near Chernobyl
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

A poster on another forum I belong to visited Chernobyl, and photographed this tank just outside the exclusion zone:

anyone got an ID? also, here's a link to the thread, although I don't know if non-members can view threads there at the moment:

just speculation but some type of improvisation to allow spraying water or other decontaminant down over an area, looks like there might be a large intake fitting on the lower rear of the "tower"

I have a positive identification of vehicle in question as BTS-4A (Armoured Tractor - Armoured Recovery Vehicle) equipped permanently with anchor spade and fitted for deep fording: forum.valka.cz/viewtop...lo/t/89916 (Click Union Jack to have page translated)
First vehicles (BTS-4) built on T-44 chassis, then (BTS-4A) on T-54 chassis. Could be fitted with TBU-55 dozer blade...
