Proper Designation?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Hi,

Proof that, no matter what nation or what historical time, soldiers with time on their hands will either do silly things or drink!

How many crew do you suppose this took? And what is the exact shade of "Grau" used on the donkey? Were there variations in the camouflage between individual 'vehicles'? What 'bumper' markings were applied? Does anyone know the serial number, production place/date/time, or the name of the Waffenamt inspector? Does anyone have a full walk-around set of this, or a picture taken from above? Wink

Chuck

Well the donkey is armed with an Panzerfaust 30, that first appeared in august 1943

The panzerfaust is fitted with an blast shield of the Panzerschreck that appeared in october 1943

So the combination of the 2 would mean that production did not start before november 1943

After that it has to be tested at the Kummersdorf testing ground, that will at least take 3 month's
Because you will need an full test of maintenance, off road capability, full testing report, etc

Then you will have to find good radio operators, that are used of communicating with donkey's
And after selection they have to be trained

Most likely the team's did not reach the troops before mai 1944 Twisted Evil

Well, I notice one thing for sure... still have to blame the engineers!
That donkey aint going to take too kindly to having that weapon fired, and the operator is pretty much guaranteed to being behind the donkey when firing (or close enough to being behind anyway, standing on the side wont matter), the operator is going to get the living hell kicked out of him.
So now we work on remote controled firing controls... and pass the Schnapps!
