ID Sherman variant...
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Is that Korea? Later? Or somewhere else? Old helicopter ID isn't my forte, so I'm not sure of the vintage of the bird in the background.

I would say the bird is a Sikorsky S-55, but it's hard to tell...

They were M4A3 105MM How tanks used for C&C. They had a dummy gun with the area taken up with raidos and map boards.. Yes, it's Korea.

Gun was, apparently, a fake - they probably needed the space for all those radio sets.

Is that an access hatch in the side or just a tac marking? (the square thing)

I am certain that this tank has had the Engineer Armored Vehicle modification kit applied. In addition to the side hatches you can see the hand/stowage rails on the upper edges of the sponsons that were also part of the kit.

Here's a model of a Sherman bridgelayer in the Dutch Engineers' museum. I believe that this particular design was a Dutch idea but was there ever such a version? Probably the hull is a bit too high to be practical though.
