The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Guy Zurmehly Jr Memorial Park, Clarksburg, OH
OH-138

Coordinates

SN 838, RN JJ030B...
Related-I thought M60A3's were all rebuilds? I take it this is not the case?

Which was also helpfully painted on one of the mudflaps!

Ghosts of some former markings?

Someone can fill me in on what this thing actually is, but I do notice that it doesn't appear to have the multiple layers of paint slopped on as I've seen on other Pattons. Is it possible this is the original paint?

Another one for "living things (and their nests) we've found on tanks"

Air filter restriction indicator. It's something that should not be painted over. Could have been masked off or replaced, although it wouldn't make much sense to do so on what appears to be a non-op tank...

New built Detroit M60A3,

IAW some sources, Detroit produced 1600 New M60A3 and A3TTS tanks, the other 4800 were rebuilds from Anniston and Mainz, bringing the total to 5400 M60A3's. In reality the total A3 production is more likely to be 6000 plus from what I'm tracking, with about 2000 new models made in Detroit.

This old girl could've started out as an A3 Passive and was converted to TTS later based on the SN.
